Hello Folks

Happy New Year! I hope you had a good Christmas and you’re keeping warm in 2026. We’re back and have another exciting programme for you.

The ZOOM meetings are back for the winter period, and the second of the three presentations will be delivered by Ray Puddy, as follows:

  • Wednesday 7 January – please sign in at 7.25pm for a 7.30pm start
  • Please contact us if you do not have the Zoom meeting link details

Here’s another reminder to invite your friends and family to subscribe to our new and improved Facebook site. If you have yet to do so, we would also like you to please subscribe and spread the word: https://www.facebook.com/people/GRES-Gravesend-Railway-Enthusiasts-Society/61552508150631/

Following the GRES Model Railway Exhibition, we now have around 25 of our glorious Southern-green liveried GRES wagons in OO Gauge to celebrate 50 years of GRES model railway exhibitions. These include an individually numbered certificate signed by Ella, plus a brief history of our exhibitions and would make a great Christmas present for a railway enthusiast or someone with an interest in Gravesham 😊. While the standard price is £19.99, current GRES members can obtain their wagon(s) for only £14.99 each.

GRES Travelcard day 3rd January 2026

Firstly I thank the nine hardy GRES members who joined me on our New Year travel trip around London.

The interesting part is on the journey from Stratford to Willesden Junction, instead of arriving on the high level station we pulled into the low level platform just as a Bakerloo Line train was departing in the opposite direction.
How did this happen ?
After departing Camden Road travelled a freight-only Camden Junction West Junction to Kentish Town junction. The clue was that we were now on the suburban lines out of Euston !
