ART AND THE TRAIN

Trains have been represented in art for nearly 200 years. This talk will look at the different
ways in which railways have been portrayed over this time.

Interestingly, people have very different ideas about what is a ‘good’ train painting. Trains
and railways offer the chance for a very broad range of approaches. Be it technical
accuracy, the excitement of speed, nostalgia or something much more avant-garde, the
subject offers endless possibilities.
